Guide · Setting up your agent
Get the greeting right
Write a short, natural opening line, or use an audio recording.
Written greeting
This is the first sentence the agent says ("Greeting" or "Initial message"). It is read out exactly as written.
- Aim for 5 to 10 seconds: hello, business name, question.
- Use punctuation for pauses ("…" adds a beat).
- Write numbers the way they should be spoken.
- Example: "Good morning, Martin & Co, Julie speaking… How can I help?"
Recorded greeting
For a fully human feel, you can upload an audio file that plays when the call is answered.
- Record the greeting somewhere quiet (under 10 seconds).
- Upload the file in the agent’s settings and switch playback on.
- For a seamless handover, clone the same voice for the rest of the call.
Check it
Call the agent and listen: pronunciation, pauses, volume and how it flows into the conversation. If the agent speaks several languages, plan a greeting for each.
